If the Church weren't true...
I believe the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is all that it claims to be.
Namely, it's THE church that Jesus Christ himself established while on Earth. And if someway, somehow, a smoking gun showed up that told us it was all made up… I would be out there tomorrow looking for another church that looks exactly like it.
- I’d be looking for a church that is lead by a prophet, because I believe in a God who speaks.
- I’d be looking for a church with the power and authority of Christ, because I believe in a God of miracles.
- I’d be looking for a church that sends missionaries to every corner of the world, because I believe in a God who leaves the 99 to look for the 1.
- I’d be looking for a church that baptizes their dead, because I believe in a God who loves ALL his children.
- I’d be looking for a church with their own version of an elder’s quorum, relief society, youth groups and primary, because I believe in a God who wants to perfect his imperfect people.
- I’d be looking for a church that teaches the good news of repentance, because I believe in a God who never tires of being merciful.
- I’d be looking for a church that teaches exaltation, because I believe in a God who wants to give his children everything he has to give.
- And I’d be looking for a church that teaches of eternal families, because if not, what are we even doing here?
Before my family joined the church, we tried out basically every church we could find. (My dad’s been baptized in 3 different faith’s, just covering his bases!). But I have not found another church with everything mentioned above. So if that mysterious smoking gun showed up out of the blue, I’d have assume we’re still in the great apostasy––waiting for Christ to restore his church, and thereby restore his people.
But the good news of the century is that the wait is over!
- I have heard a prophet’s voice––a modern day Moses telling us to cross the sea.
- I have seen the sick be healed, the blind see, and demons be cast out, by the power and authority of Jesus Christ.
- I am here because a young man from Samoa and a young man from Mexico, left their 99 to come find me and my family.
- I’ve been able to be baptized for my 4th great grandfather LaFaye, who sailed to America from France in the early 1800’s.
- I'm surrounded by amazing & imperfect people, and am presented with countless opportunities to serve and be served, giving me room to grow up in Christ.
- I am grateful for Christ’s atoning sacrifice, overcoming physical and spiritual death, paving the path for me to do the same.
- I am grateful for a God who opens my eyes to see myself for who I really am, and who I can become.
- I am grateful for my wife Sarah, my son Wyatt and my daughter Ada. They are the best things to ever happen to me, and the best part is––our best days are still ahead of us!
I have experienced these things for myself, and I believe they are true. I cannot prove any of them to you, but even if i could, that would defeat the purpose of why we're all here in the first place. We're all given this brief time on Earth to learn about our heavenly parents, where we came from, where we're going, how to get there, and how sculpt a masterpiece out of ourselves in the process. I promise that as you study the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the teachings from our prophet today, Dallin H. Oaks, that you will have all the tools you need for that masterpiece.
And if there is anyone out there looking not just for a good church, but the true church of Jesus Christ, then I testify before God and any angels reading this, (do angels read blogs in their spare time??), that you have found it here: The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
If you have questions, I LOVE talking spiritual things with people from other religions. Already a member of the Church and have some doubts? Hit me up!
Seriously, ask me anything!
Peace,
Ryan
